Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, all visits are being conducted by teletherapy at this time.
I am welcoming new patients seeking personalized care in a warm and supportive environment. I founded Beryllium Psychiatric Services to serve Black professionals seeking to manage the complexities of executive responsibility compounded by racial trauma and microaggression. I have created a unique approach to healthcare for African American communities utilizing my competence in refugee health, and my understanding of human physiology and immunology. I have learned from my work with the Harvard program in refugee trauma that mental wellness is whole body wellness. At Beryllium, I provide a focused assessment of the impact of racial micro and macro aggressions on your mental well-being. I incorporate tools such as trauma narrative therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and health coaching with conventional medical modalities into my plan for treatment. The result is a plan of care designed specifically for the challenges facing Black professionals.
I received my medical degree from Howard University in Washington DC where I also received my PhD in Microbiology with an emphasis in immunology. I then completed medical residency training in Psychiatry at the Brigham and Women’s, Harvard Medical School Psychiatry Residency Program. I went on to complete certification in the Harvard Program in Refugee Trauma and Global Mental Health.
Beryllium Psychiatric Services is built upon the premise that healing must occur in the individual, the family and the community. My services therefore also include education, and support for groups and community organizations in addition to patient care. I am available for seminars, workshops and speaking engagements. My goal is to empower communities of color to increase mental health awareness and to ultimately improve healthcare outcomes.
